Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
This policy explains what information activifree ("we", "us") collects when you use our site to find and post free local events, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have over it.
Information we collect
Account data
When you create a personal account (email/password or by signing in with Google), we store your email address, and — if provided — your name and avatar image. If you sign in with Google or another OAuth provider, we store the provider account details needed to authenticate you (such as the provider name and provider account ID); if you sign up with a password instead, we store a securely hashed version of it, never the password itself. We keep a record of events you save to your account. We also maintain sign-in sessions so you can stay logged in between visits.
Organization data
If you create an organization account to post events, we store your organization's name, email, description, website, logo, city and state, a securely hashed password (if applicable), and whether the organization has been verified by us.
Location data
To show you events near you, we ask your browser for permission to use your device's geolocation. This is entirely optional — if you decline or your browser doesn't support it, you can instead type in a city or address, which we convert to coordinates via a third-party geocoding lookup. We use this location only to query nearby events and do not permanently store your precise coordinates against your account.
Event data
Event listings themselves (title, description, category, date, venue, address, image, and link) are either posted by organizations or aggregated from public event sources, and are not personal data about you.
Cookies & sign-in sessions
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your account (for example, a session cookie set when you log in). These are required for the site to function and are not used to track you across other websites for advertising purposes.
Vercel Web Analytics
This site uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand aggregate traffic patterns such as which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit. Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless — it does not use cookies or any persistent identifiers, and it does not store any data on your device.
When a page loads, your IP address may be briefly processed to derive a coarse, approximate location (such as country or region) for that single page view. The IP address itself is not stored — it is discarded immediately after this derivation. The resulting data is aggregated across all visitors and is not used to identify or profile any individual person.
Because this analytics approach does not use cookies or on-device storage, it does not trigger the cookie-consent requirement under the EU's ePrivacy rules. That said, the brief processing of IP addresses described above is still "processing of personal data" under GDPR, and our transparency obligations apply regardless of whether consent is required — which is what this section is for.
How we use information
We use the information above to operate your account, show you relevant nearby events, let organizations manage the events they post, keep the site secure, and understand aggregate usage so we can improve activifree. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we hold about you, the right to request a copy of it, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to request deletion of your account and associated data, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information — which, as noted above, we don't do.
If you have a personal or organization account with us, you can request access to, export of, or deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us at dlloydkirch@gmail.com. We'll respond to verified requests within a reasonable time and delete your account, saved events, and sign-in sessions upon request, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or security reasons.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
